Dr. Abdikarim Mohaidin Ahmed is the current Rector of SIMAD University, having officially assumed the position on August 10, 2024, following his appointment by the Board of Trustees. His career, marked by a profound dedication to academia, leadership, and community service, reflects his unwavering commitment to excellence and collaboration.
Dr. Mohaidin earned his doctoral degree in Business Administration from Atilim University, Turkey, in 2023. He also holds an MBA in Logistics from the Cyprus Institute of Marketing in Nicosia, Cyprus, a Master’s degree in Development Studies from Kampala International University, Uganda, and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from SIMAD University, Somalia.
Throughout his tenure at SIMAD University, Dr. Mohaidin has held several key positions that showcase his leadership and vision. His previous roles include Deputy Rector for Institutional Development, University Senate Secretary, and Director for International Cooperation. He has also served as the Director for Public Relations, Director of the PFM Academy, Dean of the Faculty of Computing, and senior lecturer at the Faculty of Management Sciences.
With over 13 years of experience, Dr. Mohaidin has excelled in various domains, including research, consultancy, networking, lobbying, fundraising, and relationship-building initiatives. His ability to perform under pressure while maintaining a commitment to excellence speaks volumes about his work ethic and dedication. Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Mohaidin’s bi-cultural background and focus on community collaboration have led him to actively engage in volunteer work and assume community leadership roles.
Dr. Mohaidin’s research interests are broad and impactful, covering critical topics such as ICT policy, supply chain management, blockchain technology, social network analysis, environmental protection, and economic development. Deputy Rector for Student Affairs
Dr. Mohamud Mohamed Alasow currently serves as the Deputy Rector for Student Affairs at SIMAD University, a role he assumed on May 15, 2024. He holds a Ph.D. in Governance from the University of Peace (UPEACE) and a master’s degree in Business Information Systems from the University of Malaya.
Dr. Alasso has been an integral member of SIMAD University since its establishment on November 6, 1999. Throughout his distinguished career at the university, he has held various key positions, including Deputy Rector for Institutional Development, Deputy Rector for Admin and Finance, Director of the Center for Postgraduate Studies (CPS), Director for Research and Development, and Head of the IT Department. His exemplary contributions were recognized with the Best Director Award in 2014.
In his current capacity as Deputy Rector for Student Affairs, Dr. Alasso leads several critical units, including the Student Service Unit, Admissions and Records, Examination Center, Quality Assurance, and Library. His responsibilities include overseeing student services, managing admissions and academic records, ensuring the quality of education, and maintaining library resources.
Dr. Alasso is committed to fostering an environment that supports students' academic and personal growth. He plays a pivotal role in enhancing the student experience, ensuring high standards of education, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement within the university.

Mohamed Mohamud Mohamed, a vital presence at SIMAD University since 2004, currently holds the position of Deputy Rector of Academics. His academic journey culminated in a master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Firat University, Elazig, Turkey, in 2015. In February 2017, the Rector nominated him as Deputy Rector of Institutional Development with the Senate's endorsement. He is pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of Peace (UPEACE).
In his current role, Eng. Mohamed plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the university's academic activities. This includes planning and revising essential academic policies, supervising all academic endeavors at the university, and serving as a vital link between the academic body and other university organs.
Eng. Mohamed's journey at SIMAD has seen him assume various essential positions, each contributing to his wealth of experience. He has served as Dean of the School of Engineering, Director at the CEMED Center, Deputy Director at the CEMED Center, and even as a Lab Officer.
His contributions have not gone unnoticed. In 2016, Eng. Mohamed was recognized with the Best Innovator Award, a testament to his dedication and creative spirit in the academic arena. Eng. Senior Advisor of the Rector
Mr. Yusuf Moallim Ahmed is Senior Advisor to the Rector of SIMAD University. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our institution. His educational journey led him to attain a Master of Technical Education from Bhopal University in India in 1988, setting the stage for his remarkable academic career.
In September 2004, Mr. Yusuf joined the SIMAD University family, embarking on a journey dedicated to academic excellence and innovation. His unwavering commitment to our institution led to a significant milestone in 2010, when he was nominated as the Senior Advisor to the Rector. This appointment came with a clear mandate: to provide innovative and strategic guidance, bolstering organizational excellence.
Mr. Yusuf's influence extends across the university's main campus, where he plays a vital role in advising and assisting various offices, mainly focusing on the examination and operations offices. His insights and expertise are instrumental in shaping the university's direction.
However, Mr. Yusuf's journey at SIMAD is not defined solely by his current position. He has held several notable roles, including Acting Dean and Academic Director, each contributing to his comprehensive understanding of the academic landscape.
Recognizing his outstanding contributions, Mr. Yusuf was honored with the Rector's Award in 2016, a testament to his dedication and exceptional service to SIMAD University.

Dr. Ahmed Hassan Mohamud is a dynamic force at SIMAD University, where he currently holds the position of Deputy Rector (Administration and Finance). Dr. Ahmed's journey to this role is marked by a profound dedication to education and a remarkable list of achievements.
In 2016, Dr. Ahmed achieved the pinnacle of academic excellence when he earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration from the prestigious Al-Zaiem Al-Azhari University in Sudan. This accomplishment stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment to the pursuit of knowledge.
However, Dr. Ahmed's educational journey continues beyond that. He also holds an MBA and a BBA, which he earned from the esteemed International University of Africa in 2008 and 2005, respectively. These credentials reflect his continuous dedication to personal and professional growth.
Dr. Ahmed's journey with SIMAD University began in September 2009 when he joined as a lecturer, marking the beginning of his impactful tenure. In December 2020, his remarkable contributions and leadership qualities were acknowledged as he was appointed Deputy Rector of Administration and Finance, a role bestowed upon him by the Rector with the unanimous consent of the University Senate.
However, his tenure at SIMAD University is a tale of multifaceted contributions. Dr. Ahmed has held several pivotal roles, including University Registrar and Dean of the Admissions and Record Office. These positions highlight his versatile skill set and ability to navigate university administration's diverse facets.
Beyond academia, Dr. Ahmed is a force to be reckoned with in professional development. He is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC), a Personality Analysis Specialist, and a distinguished Kaizen Management System Practitioner and Kaizen Management Counsellor. These titles showcase his expertise in fostering personal and organizational growth.
Furthermore, Dr. Ahmed's commitment to sharing his knowledge is evident in his role as a Trainer of Trainers (ToT). Through his guidance, he empowers others to unlock their full potential.
Dr. Najib Isse Dirie

Dr. Najib Isse Dirie is currently the Deputy Rector for Research and the interim Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at SIMAD University, Mogadishu, Somalia. He has been a member of the National Research Ethical Review Board since June 2023. Dr. Najib earned his first degree in Biology and Chemistry from Benadir University’s Faculty of Education and subsequently worked as a Biology teacher at Jubba Secondary School in Mogadishu.
He completed his second Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery at Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in Wuhan, China, where he also earned his Master's in Urology. He completed his MD and Ph.D. in Urology and Andrology at the same university. Additionally, Dr. Najib completed a short fellowship in Urology at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center (KCMC) in Moshi, Tanzania.
Dr. Najib is a Urologist and Andrologist working at Dr. Sumait Hospital of SIMAD University. He is an Associate Professor of Urology at SIMAD University School of Medicine and the Principal Investigator of several research projects at SIMAD University, in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). He is the past Steering Committee Chair of the AFYA Consortium, which includes LSHTM and research institutions from DR Congo, South Sudan, and Sudan.
Dr. Najib has authored up to 30 papers in Google Scholar and Scopus-indexed international journals. He also serves as an external examiner for the University of Rwanda's medical and surgery program. Since March 2024, Dr. Najib Isse Dirie has been the President of the Somali Urological Association.

Abdullahi Ahmed Abdirahman is a distinguished professional with over a decade of experience in higher education administration, policy analysis, and international cooperation. He currently serves as the Deputy Rector for Institutional Development at SIMAD University. Previously, he served as the Senate Secretary and Director of International Cooperation, where he managed international partnerships, coordinated collaborative research, and facilitated communication and policy implementation among Senate members. Abdullahi also served as the Director of Public Relations, where he developed PR strategies, managed government relations, and oversaw social media and multimedia content.
Abdullahi is pursuing a PhD in Leadership and Sustainable Development at the University for Peace. He holds a Master of Computer Science from Universiti Putra Malaysia and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from SIMAD University. His academic background complements his professional work, blending advanced technological skills and leadership concepts.
An active member of SIMAD University’s core committees, including the Academic Council, Development Committee, Operations Board, and Bid Evaluation Committee, Abdullahi is deeply committed to advancing the university’s academic and operational excellence.
He has published extensively on a range of topics, including vehicle tracking, machine learning algorithms, data exchange, flood detection, and sentiment analysis in the Somali language, demonstrating his ability to address complex technological and societal challenges through innovative solutions.
